Moin,

Norbert

Ladies & Gentlemen…..
Earlier this year, I had the sad task of reporting on this page that FotoFlite had ceased operations. After three months of negotiations, we are very pleased to announce that our offer was finally accepted for the purchase of the image collection, dating back to 1947, the database and domains.
The websites will go “live” again very soon and orders will once again be accepted. The World Ship Club members, who have waited so patiently for news, will be able to continue their membership and researchers, the media and marine professionals will also be able to order from a collection comprising almost one million images.
A sizeable proportion of the images still require digitising and cataloguing, that is something we will continue to do for the foreseeable future. The collection has relocated from Ashford, to Folkestone, something that we completed doing this week.
For us, we felt that it was imperative the collection remained intact and available to all the valued club members and clients who have been so loyal through the years. The fantastic service they received will continue and we hope that those friendships will endure and new ones will be made. as we go forwards into the new era. The collection remains the largest of its type in the world and despite flying operations are temporarily suspended, watch this space.
Please allow us just a little more time to get all of the systems up and running, it has been quite an undertaking! We are currently working with the existing hosting companies who are being most helpful. World Ship Club members will all be emailed in the very near future. Alongside the existing Dover Strait Shipping page, we will launch a new FotoFlite page soon. Further announcements will follow with contact details and email addresses etc. It will be a busy weekend!
One final thing that I must mention. We are incredibly proud of acquiring the collection, but we could not have done it without the assistance of the FotoFlite team. Our grateful thanks to David, Louise, Tracy, John and especially Jon, they have assisted at every stage. Also, our thanks to Relyon Transport, Dover, to Dave, Jodie and their driver Richard. Without them, we would never have completed the relocation so easily. It was quite a task!
Our thanks to the Folkestone Basepoint team, particularly Emma, who have been so helpful during the relocation. I must thank Paul Jolliffe too. His insight and support has been tremendous.
And to all of you too, our thanks for your continued interest and support, particularly some of the World Ship Club members, who I have been in touch with recently.
Come with us, into a new era, as we unearth some truly amazing history and superb photography.
You will all receive a very warm welcome!
Nige & Louise.
